TUNING YOUR KALIMBA
Step 1: Use a tuner
Columbus(24 key) and Pisces(34 key) comes pre-tuned. However ,after some times playing, movements in the tines reduces the precision of each key. To know whether each key is in tune, you will need a tuner (buy fromhere). This can be a physical tuning device, or a free smartphone tuning app. We recommend Da Tuner for android or Ins Tuner for ios smartphones. How to use a tuner varies greatly. Please read the instructions meant for your chosen device or app.
With reference to the tuning chart which shows you the musical alphabet for each key, strike each tine to see if it is in the correct tune with the aid of your tuner.
If the tuner shows that the tine sounds lower than it should, use the tuning hammer to TAP UP.
If the tuner shows that the tine sounds higher than it should, use the tuning hammer to TAP DOWN.
What is the difference between Pisces C Tone and B Tone？
C Tone Kalimba 1 (do) = C.
B Tone Kalimba 1 (do) = B.
1 (do )can be = any musical alphabet.
For C Tone Pisces 12345 means CDEFG
For B Tone Pisces 12345 means BC#D#EF#
What are the benefits of C Tone or B Tone Kalimba?
The C tone Kalimba has no accidentals on the lower layer, like a piano keyboard, So C Tone may be easier to find the right notes, like a piano, when collaborating with other musicians.
B tone as a lower pitch and you play it the same way. If you plan to play individually only, a lower B tone feels more soothing.
Can I re-tune C Tone to C? Or C Tone to B?
For C Tone Pisces, Yes. You can tune C down to B scale or Bb scale with no sound issues.
For B Tone Pisces, B Tone Kalimba has better sound quality in C tuning or Bb tuning. We do not recommend tuning up to C Scale. Purchase C Tone Pisces instead for quality assurance to tune it to any tone.
Super nice Kalimba! Great looking finish and build quality! Everything is perfect!
Very nice instrument, small an practical with a lovely sound. Happy with it :)
Absolutely beautiful sound. A beautifully made instrument, feels and looks stunning. One of my best buys. Really fast delivery. A company I would highly recommend.
It’s very lovely, it sounds great and looks great! Only issues I have is that it’s a bit tricky to tune because of the “chambers” the tines are in and it’s a bit odd to hold but those aren’t the worse things in the world. Overall I’m in love with it!
Purchased the Seeds Chromatic 34 Key Kalimba (C-Tuned). I love this! It is very well made and beautiful to look at. It has great sound and came in tune. I regret that I did not purchase the stickers for the tines and I had to write them down using a Sharpie. But I will be ordering the stickers. My order arrived within 7 business days of purchase.
I love my new 34-key, C-tuned kalimba! It was surprisingly light but that may just be because it was compared to a wood x resin kalimba that I bought alongside it. All the tines resonate beautifully and the sound of a glissando on this kalimba is unforgettable. The highest tines on either side of the chromatic scale are a bit iffy but they still sound good. The only issue I encountered was my 1** tine buzzing but I believe I fixed it by gently nudging it upwards with my finger. It is a bit difficult to work my way around the kalimba due to the overshadowing of the chromatic tines, but an item like this is bound to come with a challenge that can be easily beaten with a bit of practice. The kalimba came in a case that was inside of another, larger case (I am currently using it to hold my 21-key kalimba so it’s worth mentioning that the case is quite large.) Additionally, this top quality kalimba came with a tuning hammer, double-sided booklet (17-key tabs and 34-key tabs), and what is quite possibly the most beautiful tremolo chain I have ever seen. I 100% recommend this kalimba to anyone who seeks the challenge and childlike wonder of picking up your kalimba for the first time once again.
loving it and the chain on there makes it soo much cooler too.. thankyou for including that and the case for it!
The sound of this kalimba is very lovely… The smooth finish of the tines and body makes playing this kalimba very pleasant
This kalimba is really good, every tine sound great and last long so I am very happy with it :)
It's a very nice instrument, a little quieter than I expected, though. It's portable and pleasant to play. Tuning might be a bit hard.
All of the tines play beautifully, well made, and amazingly fast shipping as always. I love this store and this Kalimba :)
Awesome seller....High End quality instrument, well built beauty....sound is top notch!....5star service....would definitely buy again in due time.
Great packaging, safe delivery, beautiful instrument!
Love my Seeds 34 keys kalimba. I already have Seeds 34 keys tune C before and I decided to buy 1 more with tune B.
amazing !! Its the second kalimba I own, but it sound so much better than my first kalimba I'm never gonna play with the other one again ! I dont need to anyway since i can play any song on this one. simply In love
The 34 key chromatic kalimba looks like a serious instrument. Beautiful to look at with the "seeds" logo carved in the middle. It took a bit of tuning which is normal. The sound is lovely, very clear! The tines very polished, a bit slippery at first, something to get used to. The board appears heavy but it gives the kalimba some heft and is comfortable to handle. All and all
a great gift to myself. I am very happy with my purchase.
What beautiful, deep, rich sound this kalimba makes!!!
I am already using the 4 lower tones for songs which blends nicely too. It is easy to hold and play. Thanks!!!
Happy Days in love of chromatic kalimba
Lovely tone. Great feel in my hands.
I am absolutely in love with the seeds Kalimba. I have both seeds double-layer 20 key kalimba (flatboard and Box type ) and also the Seeds 17 key flatboard Kalimba . I just received my seeds chromatic Kalimba 34 Keys yesterday. This absolutely beautiful both in sound and appearance. I love all my seeds Kalimba.
Sorry for in Japanese please use Google translate.
It's so perfect! :-)
Very nicely made and finished well. Still learning to get it tuned up. Shipping was a nightmare to get here in USA. Product went thru several customs check points slowing down my delivery
I received my Chromatic Kalimba yesterday and I love it. Nicely tuned (thanks! because I am very sensitive to badly tuned hand made instruments) and perfectly finished. I really love the finish and the overall appearence. Also, all items promissed (hammer for tuning, elegant black bag, book with simple songs) arrived too. The only danger: I cannot stop playing. Is it addictive?
would like music that I have heard before so I would know if I am making a mistake.
The instructions are not good. Could sure be better. Some of the song I have heard before have good arrangements. Otherwise the Instrument is very nice. Had to tune the B flat tho.
Received my pre-ordered 34 key Kalimba yesterday - a week ahead of the anticipated delivery date. The kalimba’s sound is lovely, it is comfortable to hold & beautiful to look at. I’m very pleased with the service & the product. Cheers from Canada!
Great kalimba! Looks very good and sounds awsome plus fast shipping from China to Canada ! Well done :-)
I am very happy with this musical instrument but I had the unpleasant surprise to pay the customs taxes to DHL in the amount of 28.50 euros!
It really sounds good and also easy to play. This product is so good.
The kalimba is absolutely beautiful, both in sound and appearance! I love it.
Shipping was incredibly fast.
This is one of the best chromatic kalimbas I’ve ever purchased. The tines have a better feel (and sound tbh) compared the the Hugh Tracey treble and celeste chromatics, which makes it so easy and fun to play. It also has great resonance even with it’s highest notes! 10/10 would recommend. ❤️
This is a well crafted musical instrument. It was packaged well and in tune. All keys have a beautiful resonant sound. I love being able to play more songs without rewriting from their original key. I highly recommend this 34 key Seeds Kalimba.
5* stars !
5* stars all over the board !
The kalimba is from an excellent quality !
The kalimba building and selling team are also that excellent !
Beautiful kalimba and very resonant. Packing was very, very good. My only complaint is that no sticker for tines came with this purchase which would’ve been nice. Would’ve preferred it more than the tremolo chain
I love my Seeds chromatic kalimba! I am fairly new to the world of kalimbas but I quickly became frustrated with the limitations of my other instruments. I wanted to play a wider variety of music, including songs with sharps, flats, and notes below middle C. Most chromatic 34-key kalimbas cost $250 USD and up. As a beginner, I was not ready to invest that much money in my new hobby. When I saw the Seeds kalimba and read a few reviews, I knew that I had to have it. At its current price ($108 with free shipping to the US) it is an amazing value!
I received my order in about five days, delivered to my door in Florida (USA) by DHL. The quality is excellent. It is heavier than my other kalimbas (I own four) but the body is small and fits my hands perfectly. As someone else mentioned, it is more difficult to tune because of the design. This would be true of any similarly styled chromatic kalimba, though. I find it to be a small trade-off for the ability to play so many more songs.
I have never seen/held/played a $300+ chromatic kalimba so I can't say how this instrument compares. But if you are used to playing a low end (two figures) kalimba, I think you will be very happy with the Seeds chromatic 34-key.
I really liked Kalimba although there is something to complain about) I will start with the fact that after the payment I received the parcel only after 38 days and only the transport companies are to blame for this! The seller himself is very responsive and always kept in touch with me.
the paintwork is not perfect, there are small bumps;
there are burrs in the depth of the metal frame, but they are simply not visible, and they do not interfere with the game, so it is not so critical;
some tabs (in my case 3 and 7) rattle, but it is easy to fix it by moving them a little;
the case is missing any fasteners for the kalimba, it is loose inside; a thin silver chain was put in the set, thank you)
To write a review, I used Google translator, so do not judge strictly, I tried to express my opinion purely.
*It's Chromatic (34 keys!)
*The 17 keys on the bottom row match the standard 17 key kalimba making it easy to use!
*The "accidental keys" are on the front of the kalimba making them easier to play!
*The 21 "natural keys" have #s printed on them
*The curved tines are gentle on the nails & fingers
*The tines have good spacing making it easy to hit only 1 tine at a time or play glissando
*There is enough clearance under the tines to avoid striking long nails on the flatboard
*A beautiful bell like sound
*The flatboard it easy to hold & smooth on the hands
*Great quality product with a cute design
*Comes with a nice hard case that is not bulky and has a spot for the tuning hammer
*The tuning hammer has a handle
*The included book has a nice variety of songs
*Cheaper than most other Chromatic kalimbas
*Great Customer Service & Fast shipping
*Top heavy (but the kalimba is lighter than expected)
*Harder to tune than a standard kalimba
*The "accidetal keys" are not marked
*2 of the tines had minor blemishes
*Quieter than some kalimbas
*No cleaning cloth
I Really Like the Seeds 34 key Kalimba, The Seeds 34 key is VERY COMPACT/small for having this many keys. Mine was a Pre-order and was $72.00 plus $17.00 shipping. Lets go over Pros & Cons, Cons First, the Metal Base/ Tine Structure, that hold the Tines, the Plating could be a Little better here, as it is Not Perfect, this is evident looking at it, the Wood clear coat Finish, has a couple Runs in the clear coat on the back of the Kalimba. The Tines are thicker/stiffer playing than say a LingTing Kalimba but only Slightly. Pros the Tines are slightly stiffer than Lingting, plating is Great on Tines. Wood, Wood Grain is Very NICE!! Clear coat over all is Very Good, except for the wo runs in the Clear coat. Playability the Tines are a Little stiffer than all my LingTings, That said the Tines All Play Very Well, Even the Highest tones play VERY WELL and are NOT overly Stiff and have Great TONE and playability to them, as the tines seem Longer than other Kalimbas and they have a Great Tone to them, all of the tines sound and Play Great, None Buzz, None are dead, and with the Tone Cup that is in the Wood Board providing good Sound volume, the Tines being closer to the Wood Board may focus the tone Up and at the player, from the Kalimba, also the Angle of the Playing tip of the tines is different/Lower or Closer to the Wood Board than other Kalimbas I have. Playing any Board Kalimba, by bringing it down to touch the chest while playing provides the Best sound Volume. The Compactness of this Kalimba is surprising, it is about the same size as my 17 key board Kalimbas, as it is Narrow, and, The orientation of two rows of tines is already getting to be Second Nature, after a couple days of playing. Overall I really Like this Kalimba, as Long as the Metal Plating Holds UP, and No Rust starts, i will be very Happy with it.
I am absolutely in love with this seeds 34 key kalimba. I’ve had it for around 2 weeks or so and I love it. This is my third one and by far the best. The tines are very soft when playing and are very rich in tone. No stiff or dead tines. It comes with a book with some easy music to play, along with a tuning hammer, a tremolo chain, and hard case. Its so nice not having to constantly retune your kalimba, because a lot of the pieces I play have accidentals (sharps, etc) in them. Coming from someone who has a lot of experience with various musical instruments, this kalimba is great and is worth the price. 10/10 love this kalimba.
I love my new Seeds kalimba. It’s looks and sounds beautiful. Every key is smooth and easy to play and they all resonate for such a long time. Even the end tines sound lovely snd have resonance. This entire experience with gokalimba has been easy and the communication was excellent. May even reached out to me to let me know when my item would be shipping (it was a preorder) and I got my kalimba quickly and well packaged. I highly recommend both the instrument and the shop.
I'm astounded by the craftsmanship of the kalimba and the sound is absolutely pleasant. I bought this as a present for a close friend and I'm considering buying one more for myself. The support team did an excellent job of shipping it sooner on request. Just buy it! You will be overjoyed by the music it plays!
